Beverly Rae Vaughan, age 63, of Hampton, passed away on May 13, 2026. She was born on November 23, 1962, in Portsmouth, to Gwendolyn and Ernest Vaughan.
Beverly will be remembered for her vibrant energy, caring heart, and generous spirit. She was thoughtful, helpful, and giving to all who knew her. She loved flowers, art, jewelry, getting her hair done, and her cowboy boots. Beverly had her own unique style and presence, one that made her unforgettable and only added to her beautiful vibrancy.
She loved God deeply, and her faith in Jesus Christ remained strong throughout her life. She was a member of Bethel AME Church. Beverly was also a proud military veteran who served in the United States Army. After leaving the military, she worked for Gwaltney and later spent 15 years with Johnson Controls before stepping away from work around the age of 46 due to health challenges.
Beverly was a great bowler and a shark at playing pool. She also played softball at Third Baptist Church alongside her sister, cousins, and other loved ones. She had excellent taste in music and fashion and was known for her long phone calls with family and friends. Some would say she had the gift of gab and could talk her way into and out of just about anything.
She touched the lives of many through her kindness, humor, strength, and unforgettable spirit.
Beverly was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Vaughan, and her niece, Sharra Newbie. She is survived by her three sons, Alaric Holmes, Ernest Vaughan (Tashe), and Lamar Holmes; her two granddaughters, Summer Grace and Noe Vaughan; her mother, Gwendolyn Vaughan; her sister, Robin Watkins; her niece, Stevi Vaughan-Doxie; and a host of cousins who loved one another like siblings, along with aunts, uncles, friends, and children she loved as her own.
Beverly’s love, laughter, style, and strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
