Khali Donta McKinney, 36, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, entered eternal rest on April 3, 2026. He was born on January 13, 1990, in Virginia Beach, VA, to his loving parents, William and Deborah McKinney.
Khali was educated in the Virginia Beach Public School system, attending Bayside High School and graduating from Bayside Open Academy in 2008. He later continued his education at ATI Advanced Technology Institute. He built a career as a professional landscaper and in maintenance, where his passion for working with his hands and love for nature truly shined.
Khali had a vibrant spirit and a heart full of love. He was an avid fan of Clemson University and found joy in the simple things—Hot Wheels, Transformers, and especially his passion for horticulture and hydroponics. Above all, Khali deeply loved his family. He had a knack for keeping everyone on their toes with his jokes and truly never met a stranger. His greatest joy and proudest role was being a father to his beloved daughter, Maliyah, who was truly his everything.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Khali leaves to cherish his memory his loving parents, William and Deborah McKinney; his cherished daughter, Maliyah D. McKinney; his twin sister, Kiandra D. McKinney; his sister, Keesha D. Snead (Marvin Snead Jr.); his nieces, Teja McKinney and Jaden Shields; his godfather, Donnell Clark; his uncle and confidant, Melvin Rollins; and a host of other relatives and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
We find comfort in knowing that Khali is now at peace, resting in the arms of the Lord. Though our hearts are heavy, we trust in God’s promise that to be absent from the body is to be present with Him. His love, laughter, and spirit will live on through all who knew and loved him.
“Well done, good and faithful servant…enter into the joy of your Lord.” – Matthew 25:23
