On Wednesday, April 9, 2026, Lorinza L. Steward lovingly called “Bow or Bow-D” answered the call to be with our Lord and Savior at the age of 75 years old with his loving and devoted
wife Cora, son Lorinza, daughter Tameka, and sister Carolyn by his side. Lorinza was born to the late Pinnell Steward and Mary Chambers Steward on January 30, 1951, at Norfolk General Hospital. He was educated in the Norfolk Public School System. Lorinza worked for Lone Star Industries from 1971 to 1976 as a Cement Finisher. He completed columns for Norfolk Chrysler Hall and Scope Arena. He began working forNorfolk Public Schools in the warehouse as a Delivery Truck Driver and later moved to Child Nutrition until he retired in September of 2017.
“Bow” was a lively soul who continually expressed gratitude to God. He cherished his family and friends, was a committed husband and father, dressed stylishly, and enjoyed singing and dancing on street corners. He was an avid bowler who regularly achieved high scores in his league. He also enjoyed fishing, tennis, pool, football, and basketball, and spent his free time watching westerns, tennis, especially CoCo Gauff, basketball, and football. He was a dedicated fan of the Commanders and Tarheels.
Lorinza married Cora L. Hill on September 11, 1971, and together they had two children, Lorinza L. Steward and Tameka C. Steward, both of Virginia Beach. Although he did not have any biological grandchildren, many children who attended Cora’s childcare over its 29-year history affectionately called him PaPa.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Cora L. Steward, son, Lorinza L. Steward, daughter, Tameka C. Steward both of Virginia Beach, Virginia, sister Carolyn Aguilar, and brothers, Terry Steward and David Stewart of Norfolk, Virginia. He was also predeceased by his sisters Eula M. Mosley and Mary L. Steward, and brothers Raymond, Robert, Michael, and Wilmer Steward.
