Kye Anthony Jarvis, son of Erik M. Jarvis and Alisha K. Jarvis, entered into eternal rest on the morning of July 31, 2025, at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia. Born in Midlothian, Virginia on August 3, 2023, Kye started off average in size but quickly outgrew all of his peers measuring in the 99th percentile across all growth metrics (head, height, and weight) at each milestone appointment. Kye’s parents were often informed by strangers that he was a big kid due to his size, but nothing was bigger than Kye’s heart. Kye’s smile was infectious, and his presence spread joy into every room he entered. People often complimented Kye for how happy he was or how much fun he was having. Sometimes, he would even share a hug with a stranger passing by. There was not one person who could deny the amount of joy that Kye brought into their lives.
Each day you could find Kye and his parents participating in a myriad of activities. Kye loved being outside more than anything. No matter the temperature outside, he would grab his shoes and head to the door to let his parents know he was ready to go play. His mom would set a timer in the winter to ensure they were not out in the cold for too long because if it were up to Kye he’d stay outside for hours. When they weren’t outside, you could find Kye and his parents at the Varina library every Saturday enjoying story time, bubble time, and playing with his library friends. Some of Kye’s favorite activities included going to different parks, Baby Artsplay music class, the Children’s Museum, the farmers market, spray parks, swimming at the YMCA and Nana & Pop-pop’s community pool, cooking with his mom in the kitchen, playing disc golf with dad, taking family walks around the neighborhood, and his favorite of activity of all time—playing fetch with his best friend, his dog Porkchop. Kye could spend hours walking around his yard holding two ball throwers playing fetch with Porkchop. Kye may have only been here a few short years, but he visited many places and touched many hearts.
“From the moment he came into our lives, Kye filled our hearts with immeasurable love and joy. Kye was our whole world, and we spent every day of his life ensuring he had everything he needed and beyond.”
